I went pretty heavy on Kreinik metallics for all three, but especially Azula. I made sure to make up for her relatively "plain" dress to put a lot of detail work into the armor. Her linework is quite similar to Zelda's armor but the blue fire was an additional challenge! Getting that glow effect into her armor, dress, and hair was a lot of work within the DMC palette range. The dragon on her sheer sleeve looks pretty awesome and I'm really looking forward to seeing it stitched up.
Mai is the most simple of this trio. Her peacock embroidery is the most elaborate part of her design with glittery thread and beads to sparkle. Mom and I had a little bit of trouble finding the right palette for the sheer fabric it's meant to be stitched on, but I think we nailed the effect in the end.
Ty Lee is in the running for the most beads with that collar! Petite seed beads hang down in glittery lines, with some swoops between collar points. Mill Hill jingle bells are a special addition for the end of her braid, though if you don't want to fuss with them you could always replace them with regular beads. (Instructions are included.) She's also covered in quite a bit of Kreinik with the dragon on her sheer pants swirling around.
